Notebook

Notebooks are recyclable, but only if you separate the components.

Recycling Instruction
  • Spiral notebooks
  1. Remove the spiral binding. The metal or plastic binding can be recycled. Put it the recycling bin.
  2. Remove the plastic cover and place it in the trash. The plastic cover cannot be recycled.
  3. The white or light colored lined paper inside a spiral notebook can go in your normal recycling bin.
  • Loose-leaf notebooks
  1. Separate the rings from the plastic, they can be recycled with other metal products, at your local recycling center.
  2. The notebook paper, dividers, and the cardboard inside the plastic cover of the notebook can be placed in the recycling bin along with all your other paper.
  • Composition notebooks
  1. Whether you can recycle these items as-is or need to remove the paper from the cardboard varies from place to place. ​
